Very nice cabin and well
stocked. No fish but a great week. "We had a real fun time in the beautiful cabin! The kid's enjoyed the fact that there wasn't just "grown up" things to do. It rained a lot, but we did get out to do some fishing and take a great ride on the pontoon! It was a great place we all loved it!" The Hostetler's, September 2003
"This was our best family vacation ever! The weather was great! Our boys loved to swim , fish and explore! It was a wonderful cabin! We hope to return next year!" The Temmer's, August 2003
"This was our third year up here, and we enjoyed seeing the cabin updated each year! We had rain when we arrived but saw the weather improve until of course the "best" day is the day you have to leave! We enjoy the eagle chain and love cruising it in the pontoon! Our children and grandchildren were here for 3 days and loved to fish off the little pier. WE also had visitors come in form Rhinelander! It was a great and relaxing week, and evenings were spent on the great deck!" The Erickson Family, August 2003
"The cabin was very clean and ready for us. Deck was very nice, especially for the little ones. The cabin was roomy for everyone, even for visitors! We also enjoyed shopping in nearby Minocqua! The pontoon boat was also roomy and we enjoyed our cruises through the chain. The neighbors were friendly and helpful. There were also many deer in the area." The Aschenbrenner's, July 2003
"What a great week we had in Eagle River! The weather has been good for most of the time, a couple rainstorms but not a total "wash-out" We love the cabin- very cozy and comfy. The deck is great and the boat is awesome! We also did some fishing- caught lots of Perch and Blue Gill. We took a long boat ride around the chain too. The Northwood's are absolutely beautiful! We saw many deer- lots of fawns with their mothers. Hope to come back again maybe in the winter for snow mobiling!" The Matzek's, July 2003
"We had a wonderful week in the Northwood's. Thanks for letting us live in harmony with nature for a few days. We have been coming up north for 25 years, and this was one of the nicest times!" The Stultz's, July 2003
"What a nice place. We all packed too much stuff- you had everything! Very very clean and roomy. The boat was good also. Weather has been great. The news kept saying storms but it's been pretty hot! We have gone out on the boat everyday. The new motor gets good gas mileage. Dad did lots of shopping, and got a workout by walking up and down the hill to the boat so many times! We went to Michael's just up the road for dinner. Great food and fast service! On Thursday the weather changed... it only got up to 60. We put the gas fireplace on and watched Shrek! Tonight is the street dance. It's cold, but were going to check it out. Tomorrow will be our last day, hopefully warmer so we can take the boat out one more time. Hoping to come back again!" The Glaman's, June 2003
“Bill & Linda – Great fishing trip - Thank you, everyone was touched by the beauty & serenity out here – Caught 1 36” Muskie & several Walleyes & Perch, Rock Bass, etc. Since it’s time to leave, we will be left with memories … until next year! Thanks so much!!” Matt Decker & Crew September 2002
“The boys” out for a fellowship of good fishing for “Muskie and “Walleye”. Everything we anticipated. Weather was perfect, just not long enough. Great Time.” “The boys” from Chicago, IL – September 2002
“We swam at the beach the first day. We went fishing off the dock several times but caught nothing. This area was so quiet, which I appreciated. We especially enjoyed hiking around Luna Lake (Nicolet) – (we saw a pair of loons). We really enjoyed your cabin.” Steve & Julie Ropinger (and our three little boys) – August 2002
“We arrived just as a huge storm hit Eagle River! Lost electricity for about 3 hours. The rest of the week was fairly stormy but we managed to play golf 3 times, go out on the boat and fish (just pan fish – nothing big!), and out to eat. Our favorite – Holiday Lodge in Phelps. Loved the deck and watching stars & satellites fly by. Saw shooting stars too. The cabin was comfortable & well equipped. A nice week in Eagle River made even nicer since our kids are all grown & were off doing their own thing! Nancy & Dan Minnella -- July 2002
“We arrived to beautiful warm weather. We had a couple of very warm, muggy days. We did quite a bit of fishing and caught numerous bluegills and perch. We even had one muskie bite on the line with a bluegill on it, BUT we couldn’t fight anymore with it. We did the “tourist” things too. Museums, golfing and shopping. The 19th Hole golf course was great for kids and beginners. We all had a great time. The cabin is beautiful and we decided it is in the perfect spot at the top of the hill. We saw a lot of wildlife – eagles, mink, deer, ducks, ducklings, heron, loons, a black squirrel, raccoons and of course those scampering chipmunks. There were also some birds at the feeder. All in all we had a great relaxing time and wish it didn’t have to end. Thank you very much for letting us stay here and hope to be back again. We couldn’t ask for a better place to be! Thank you again!” Pam, Gary and Billy Manogue, Fort Atkinson, WI -- July 2002
“Had a wonderful time on the boat. We were blessed w/ 80+ degree days so we had fishing and swimming excursions off the pontoon. The guys caught lots of Walleye near Eagle Island close to Weedy Shore. Had many great meals on the deck with the family. Great cottage layout for kids with spacious deck, VCRs and bunk bed room! We should know – we had 5 here at once! Thanks.” The Phillpotts from Kenosha and the Seemars from Minnesota – July 2002
“We enjoyed a relaxing stress free week!! We love the peace & quiet. Nature entertained us – deer, chipmunks, woodpeckers, herons, egrets and especially the eagles on the island. We visited them every day. The weather was perfect – we started in the 90’s – pontoon was a Godsend – and ended in the upper 70’s. We took the pontoon through the lakes to Eagle River – stopped at Chanticleers for a beverage and headed back. Enjoyed all the channels – especially the one to Cranberry Lake. Saw a loon! The fish were elusive – finally had some luck at Richter’s Point. It was ju7st great to get out on the water. Catching anything was a bonus. We ended up with enough pan fish for a meal. Mini-golfed at the 19th hole in St. Germaine – a fun little course. The camp across the lake entertained us with fireworks on the 4th. Sam (17) & Marty (14) played some fierce cribbage tournaments. Sam was named champ after at least 25 games! They enjoyed the free time to read and loved watching movies late into the night from the bunk beds. Tom & I loved getting out in the morning to fish and watch nature while the boys slept in. We also enjoyed sitting on the deck – very private and peaceful. Your cabin is cozy and comfortable. Well supplied & clean. Our family enjoyed having a week to spend together with no outside distractions. Thank you for sharing it with us!” The LeMense family – Ashwaubenon, WI, -- June 2002
“We are from, outskirts of Milwaukee. Me, my husband and youngest daughter, Chelsea (1 yrs). Had about a 5 hour drive. Well worth the trip so far. My oldest daughter, Chrystal (20 yrs.) will drive up on Monday and spend the rest of the week with us. We met Ron & Millie and their cute pooch, Maggie. They were very helpful & friendly neighbors. The pontoon was so nice, once we filled up on gas. Ron told us where to go to get filled up. We caught 12 perch yesterday and 10 perch today. Nice weather! We went into town and went horseback riding and go-carting. I told everyone at work I’m not going home without catching a 6’ Muskie. We met friends up here, they live in Sugar Camp. My in-laws want to come up here with us next year. The cabin is so comfortable and kept very clean and well stocked – we appreciate it. Wow the temp dropped from the low 80’s to the high 50’s. Not much luck with the fish – 25 perch, that made our lunch. It’s still so relaxing and beautiful here despite the low temp and rain. We met up with some friends of ours that live here (since Nov. 2001.) Their daughter is the same age as ours, so it was a nice break for all of us. Today it’s really cool & rainy. Tomorrow morning we leave L, so I guess it’ll be a good day to pack. We ate at “Taco Joe’s” in town of Eagle River (little white trailer), it’s real authentic Mexican food. We all really hate to leave, especially since we’ll be leaving without a muskie! Hope everyone who stays here, has as great a time as we had. Hope & planning to be back next year. My kids will miss the pontoon especially.” The Metcalfs, Muskego, WI -- June 2002
“We have been vacationing in the Eagle River area for almost 30 years. Have stayed at numerous resorts on numerous lakes for a week each summer. Decided to tray some fall fishing for the muskie this year & found your cabin on the internet. Your cabin is very clean, neat & quite comfortable. Took a boat tour of the chain. Really nice. The pontoon was already out but we had our two fishing boats so had enough to take boat rides & fish. Not too much luck with the fish but had fun trying. Thank you for sharing your cabin with us.” Fowles Family – Green Bay, WI -- September 2001
“Thank you, we had a wonderful time! Your cabin is warm and cozy. We enjoyed everything. The boat was very easy to operate and worked great. We were blessed with wonderful weather.” The Gales Family from Houston, TX -- July 2001
"The cabin was great! The fishing was awesome! I caught two fish! Thank you for the boat ride! Thank you for letting us stay in your cabin. You have been so nice to us. We enjoyed our stay! P.S. I don’t want to leave!" Matt, Jen, Josh, Chelsey, and Zoe Decker, Downers Grove, IL -- May 2001
"The Stevens from Eagle River. Came for Deer Hunting camp. Had a great time with my son & friends & brother. Our house is only about 1-½ miles from here! But what a nice vacation." Mike Stevens, Eagle River -- November 2000
"The pictures of the cabin & surrounding area do not do justice to this piece of heaven. It’s beautiful & serene – just what we needed. Thank you for letting us enjoy all of this. I think we might be coming back again next year." Barb Lowe, October 2000
"I just wanted to let you know how much I have enjoyed your cabin. My job is very stressful and I have high blood pressure. You sharing your cabin with us has done wonders for me & my family & I want to thank you for being here." Harold Lowe, Grapevine Texas -- October 2000
"The cabin has been a bit of heaven to me these past weeks. I have been able to relieve myself of all the stress that builds from living in a fast-paced lifestyle. I have so enjoyed the area that I am in the process of looking for property in the area. These past weeks have given me a bit of every season. Summer weather in the 70’s, fall weather in the 50’s, and a few snowfalls along with the cold – enjoyed having wood fires to keep warm. J You have a lovely place that I would like to come back to next year. Thank you for sharing!" Kathleen Kinyion, Newark, CA -- September 2000
"This is our third year at this cabin and we had another good week. The kids enjoyed the beach and just being outside! We had some rain – then went to the Northwoods Children's Museum! The kids found a mussel and a crayfish – they were very entertaining. I explored Eagle River and found a great fabric shop called “Sew Fun.” My husband George wandered around with his metal detector and found a few coins – especially at the fair grounds. Our lives are very busy as home – this is a very good break from the phone and just every activities. Have a great year. P.S. The boat ran great!!" The Schramers, George, Lisa, Vince (1), Jocelyn (8) and Daphne (5) -- North Aurora Illinois -- September 2000
"We had a super week at your lovely cabin. I got the hang of the pontoon boat after day one. It ran well all week long. The days were spent mostly on the water and the nights on the deck. You couldn't ask for a better week." Joe Madden and Elizabeth Dooley -- August, 2000
"Loved your cabin -- most of all the boat. We did lots of activities and the kids played Nientendo." ...Lisa, Kevin, Lauren, MaryAnn, Edward and Barbra, Lemont, IL, July 2000
"The Schramer's from North Aurora, IL have returned for the second trip to our "second home". Vince, Jorely and Daphne continue the familiar comments, "There it is, just as I remember it!". We unpack, supper at the Copper Kettle, grocery shop at Triggs, then settle into a "quiet" evening at the cabin. The next days, the weather changed to the lower 50's with off and on showers. We went to plan "B" and hiked the Franklin Nature Trail, the Forest Fore Trail, and the Argonne National Lab tree study for cutting. Wow! We saw many trees blown over by your July high wind jet stream. We shopped and the kids enjoyed the Northwoods Children's Museum -- great place for hands-on enjoyment for the kids. By Wednesday we finally took the boat out on Catfish Lake. This was a real pleasure, as I never boated with a power motor before. The next several days we alternated between boating, fishing, kid's activities and shopping. The weather warmed up to upper 70's -- perfect. The one thing that impressed us the most, and our son also noticed, was how friendly everyone is up here. Why even the boaters were nice to us. Again, Lord willing, we'll be back again." George & Lisa Schramer & kids, North Aurora, IL -- September, 1999
"Our first couple of days were a real adventure: We arrived to find that the electricity and water had been knocked out by the fiercest storm to hit the area in over 25 years. So, we vacationed by candlelight in the evenings, cooked on the grill, and went to the movies. We spent our days hiking in the forests and out on the boat. We took a day trip to Minocqua where we visited Jim Peck's Wildwood, saw Scheer's Lumberjack Show, and toured Camp Timberlane. While in Eagle River we also toured Camp Ojibwa, ate fudge at Tremblay's and hired an outstanding fishing guide, John Osterling, whom can be found through Eagle Sports. He led us to fish on Kentuck Lake. We had no luck on Catfish Lake. We found the neighbors to be very friendly and helpful, particularly in the aftermath of the storm. In fact, everyone we met was helpful. It's typical of the area. Anyway, we look forward to many Northwoods vacations in the future. (Oh, we also went to the Casino one evening -- It was great fun!) Thanks!" The Friedman Family, Sara, Bob, Ben, and Aunt Amy, Houston, TX -- August, 1999
"This is our first time back to Eagle River in 6 years. My parents used to own one of the cabins at the bottom of the hill. We love it here. Our kids love the go kart track. We went to a new putt-putt by St. Germain which was really nice. The cabin is very well kept and clean. Many card games were played at the table every night. Thanks for the great time!" Steve, Linda, Rachel, Matt, & Joey Buckland, Richmond IN -- July, 1999
"We had a great time this week. God graced us with good weather so we could be on the boat every day. We caught about 100 perch with the biggest one at 12 inches, a muskie (threw it back) and a large walleye - almost. The cottage is beautiful, well-kept and the boat was a wonderful added feature. Thank you for sharing with us. God's riches blessings on you all." Richard, Robin & Corey Madison, and Curt, Lisa & Matthew Drews, Amerherst, WI -- July, 1999
"We came up for a 4-day weekend for snowmobiling. The trails were good on Thursday and Friday allowing us to drive for 500 miles. This is our second trip to the cabin and we will continue to vacation here. We like the area for restaurants, shopping and friendly bartenders. We played a new game called "Bop-It" on the only night we couldn't ride, and found out how coordinated we all are. Once again we had a great time!" Kathy and Darryl Mrozinsky, Debbie and Randy Mrozinsky, and Patty and Lee Kretsch, Manitowoc, WI -- February 1999
"Our family is from Aurora, IL, about 40 miles west of Chicago. This was our first vacation in 6 years! I'm in between jobs and we just had to get away. The cabin setting is amazing. We really enjoyed the pileated wood peckers. I had no idea they would be that big. The kids enjoyed the lake and the beach -- especially the playground. During the week we visited the Franklin Nature Trail, Karl's Wood Museum, the zoo at Warbannet, and drove all the way up to Presque Isle just to look around. I especially enjoyed playing my violin in the evening on the deck. I usually had 2 or 3 chipmunks running around me. On Friday morning we saw an Eagle, and my son Vince was able to watch it fishing in the lake! The cabin is beautiful, and just right for our family. We hope to come again next year. Thanks!" Lisa, George, Vince, Jacelyn and Daphne Schramer -- September 1998
"Lovely, clean and cozy. We had a great relaxing time, and a perfect northwoods holiday." Alex & Peggy Cattan, , Labor Day -- September 1998

We really enjoyed the stars at night & the beautiful days. We even experienced a wicked storm. It was a great time!! We hope to come back again next year. Thank You. P.S. My husband says this is God's truely country" Bob, Michelle, Timmy and Breanna Wayne -- August 1998

"We had a great week! The weather was great and it was very nice to have the lake to swim in. The boat was super and it made the whole trip fun. We also enjoyed the sand area for a nice place to play. The cabin was excellent. It was very neat and clean and the rooms were very comfortable. We hope to come back soon." Alison and Megan Thor, and Jodi Roeth -- July 1998
"Thank you so much for a wonderful place to spend our summer vacation. We had a very enjoyable and relaxing stay in the Northwoods. We had good weather, a lot of laughs and made a lot of lasting memories with our families. I hope this week was just the beginning of a long family tradition." Troy & Deana Redfearn -- July 1998
"We're from Illinois (kind of in the Chicago area) and had a wonderful week up here! Other than one or two showers, the weather was terrific. The kids playground (especially the merry-go-round) and the sandy beach... and of coarse, the pontoon boat. We went all around Catfish Lake and ventured briefly into Voyageur Lake. In town we visited a go-kart track and the children's museum. We had to drag the kids out of the museum at closing time, they were having so much fun! The wood carving museum was fun too. The night sky's were mostly clear and it was cool to see the Milky Way. One night we went out and saw six satellites and three shooting stars! We drove over to the Nicolet National Forest (Franklin Lake) and participated in a "Critter Catch" where the kids went hunting for bugs in the water (more fun than it sounds!) The forest ranger then helped kids identify what they caught. We recommend taking some time to see the forest -- it's very nice. We're already looking forward to coming back!" Chris, Gail, Matthew and Steven Brewer -- July 1998
"God truly smiled on us this week. The weather was perfect, the cabin was first class, and the pontoon boat was ship shape and in smooth working order. Our hearts are at Long Lake, but Catfish is beautiful and the people are friendly. The beach is nice. Kelsey (7) begged for it every day. The deck came in handy. This is heaven on earth. We hate to leave." Jim, Sue, John, Brenda, Jenny and Kelsey Boel -- June 1998
"We were very pleased with our stay. The cabin is beautiful! We did have plenty of room for all who stayed. [they had 8] The location was very good for us to connect onto the snowmobile trail. The parking area was perfect for our trailers. The kitchen was nicely stocked with plenty of dishes & pots/pans." Lee & Patricia Kretsch -- January 1998 |
